Geissele Automatics
The Geissele Automatics Reliability Enhancement Kit H3 is a complete bolt carrier group and buffer system overhaul designed for shooters who demand maximum dependability from their 5.56mm AR-15 platform rifle. This kit pairs Geissele's Reliability Enhanced Bolt Carrier Group with their Super 42 Braided Wire Buffer Spring and H3-configuration buffer, delivering a matched system tuned for consistent, trouble-free operation across diverse conditions and ammunition types. Whether you're running a carbine for duty, competition, hunting, or general range work, this kit addresses the real-world reliability gaps that can emerge in stock setups.
At the core sits a full-mass, full-auto rated M16/M4 bolt carrier group manufactured from mil-spec 8620 steel with a properly torqued and staked, chrome-lined gas key—the foundation of dependable feeding and bolt lockup. The carrier's extended upper rails significantly improve feeding reliability and bolt stability, while the Geissele Stressproof Bolt, forged from Carpenter 158+ steel, offers roughly five times the service life of standard mil-spec bolts. Every bolt undergoes high-pressure testing and magnetic particle inspection before leaving Geissele's North Wales, Pennsylvania facility. The H13 cam pin is treated with Nanoweapon, a proprietary chrome-nitride coating developed through a three-year collaboration between Geissele engineers and the research team behind Picatinny Arsenal's Durable Solid Lubricant, delivering exceptional corrosion and wear resistance without compromising the part's metallurgy.
Nanoweapon coatings throughout the group provide hardness equivalent to 82HRC, making the surfaces slick enough to shed carbon buildup and operate reliably with minimal lubrication. The Super 42 buffer spring brings Geissele's proven reliability engineering to the recoil system, completing a cohesive upgrade that works as an integrated whole rather than a collection of competing parts. The H3 weight suits slightly heavier or piston-driven systems and shooters preferring a softer recoil impulse.

This kit is designed for 5.56mm AR-15 pattern rifles. The H3 buffer weight is particularly suited to slightly heavier or piston-driven systems and for shooters who prefer a softer recoil feel.
This kit ships in H3 configuration. Geissele also offers an H2 version; the primary difference is buffer weight, which affects recoil impulse and cycling characteristics. The H3 is heavier and produces a softer impulse.
The Reliability Enhancement Kit H3 includes the complete Reliability Enhanced Bolt Carrier Group, the Super 42 Braided Wire Buffer Spring, and the H3 buffer.
Yes. The REBCG is manufactured as a full-mass, full-auto rated M16/M4 bolt carrier group, even though it will function perfectly in semi-automatic rifles.
