The Geissele Automatics Super Modular Rail MK4 9.30" M-LOK is a lightweight free-float handguard built for AR-15s that demand precision and modularity without sacrificing weight. If you're building a rifle where every ounce matters—whether for hunting, competition, or extended field work—this rail delivers the rigid platform and accessory flexibility serious shooters rely on. The MK4 combines Geissele's reputation for tight tolerances with modern M-LOK mounting, giving you a handguard that stays true shot after shot.

Weight savings don't mean compromise here. Geissele engineered the SMR MK4 with maximum venting to shed heat and cut bulk, while the proprietary 2.25" barrel nut creates exceptional contact with your receiver. That extra interface surface means your rail stays straight and repeatable through field maintenance and reassembly—critical when you need your zero to hold. Integrated short M1913 picatinny sections at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock let you mount optics, lights, or backup sights without adding rail real estate you don't need.

M-LOK mounting slots run at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions plus the upper 45-degree quadrants, giving you genuine modularity to configure your setup exactly how you shoot. Swap accessories in seconds, reconfigure on the fly—the rail adapts to your mission, not the other way around. At 11.2 ounces with hardware, the MK4 is the kind of weight savings that compounds across a purpose-built rifle. Note that installation requires a Geissele barrel nut wrench (sold separately).

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this handguard fit my AR-15?

Yes, the Super Modular Rail MK4 9.30" is designed for the AR-15 platform and ships with the Geissele barrel nut. Installation requires a Geissele barrel nut wrench, which is sold separately.

What accessories can I mount to this rail?

The MK4 accepts M-LOK mounted accessories on the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions and upper 45-degree quadrants. Integrated short M1913 picatinny rail sections at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock also accept standard picatinny-mounted gear. You can run lights, backup sights, AFGs, and other common tactical accessories.

How does the 2.25" barrel nut improve accuracy?

The extended barrel nut increases surface contact where the handguard interfaces with the receiver, creating a more rigid platform that stays straight and repeatable. This helps maintain zero consistency when you disassemble and reassemble the rifle for cleaning and maintenance.

What's the weight advantage of the MK4 compared to other handguards?

The SMR MK4 weighs 11.2 ounces with hardware. The maximum venting design reduces overall weight while preserving the rigid, free-float structure needed for accuracy. Exact weight comparisons depend on other handguard models, but the venting and aluminum construction make the MK4 a lightweight choice for builders prioritizing a lean setup.
