Forward Controls Design
The Forward Controls Design AR-15/M4 receiver extension is a 6-position carbine extension built for shooters who demand reliability over flash. This isn't a redesign for the sake of being different—it's a thoughtfully engineered receiver extension that addresses real-world durability and usability challenges faced by serious rifle builders and operators. Made from 7075 aluminum with rolled threads and dry film lubed interior, the FCD receiver extension delivers the dependability you need whether you're setting up a duty rifle, precision build, or tactical carbine.
What sets this receiver extension apart is its attention to practical details. Three strategically positioned drain holes—two additional openings in the 2nd and 5th latch positions plus the standard TDP-spec end drain hole—allow water and debris to evacuate quickly from inside the extension. For rifles that see field use, this level of drainage prevents moisture buildup that can compromise bolt carrier function. The laser-engraved stock latch position indicators on both sides (at 3 and 9 o'clock) solve a real problem: they remain visible and accurate regardless of which premium stock you run, whether it's a Magpul, Vltor, or open-top M4-style stock. This side-positioning approach works because many modern stocks lack the top-mounted release lever hole that would make top engraving impractical.
The FCD receiver extension ships in Cerakote Black and is proudly manufactured in the USA. At six positions, it provides solid adjustment range for length-of-pull without the complexity of nine-position variants. The design philosophy here is unmistakable: every feature serves a function, and nothing is included simply for aesthetics. If you're building an AR or replacing a worn extension on a duty weapon, this is the kind of part that works harder the more demanding your use becomes.
