The Fortis Switch Rail 13.8" M-LOK Mod 1 handguard is a lightweight, purpose-built free-float rail system for AR-platform rifles that prioritizes both functionality and ease of use. Built from aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum, this handguard delivers robust performance while keeping weight down—just 9.40 ounces—so you're not dragging unnecessary pounds when it counts. The 13.8" length is engineered with a specific mission in mind: it pairs seamlessly with most direct-thread suppressors on 14.5" barrels, leaving a minimal gap and a clean aesthetic that just looks right.
What sets the Switch Mod 1 apart is Fortis's patent-pending tool-less locking mechanism, which lets you swap rails quickly without reaching for a wrench. That's a game-changer if you're running multiple setups for different missions or competitions. The rail features M-LOK sections at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions plus an offset location, giving you genuine flexibility to mount lights and other accessories exactly where you want them—no need to hunt down special offset mounts or workarounds.
Installation is straightforward, thanks to a heat-treated 4140 steel barrel nut (1-7/16" x 16 T.P.I.) that ships with the handguard. The continuous top rail keeps your primary optic mount solid, while hard-coat anodizing protects against wear in the field. Whether you're building a lightweight hunting rifle, a competition gun, or a versatile duty setup, the Switch delivers a handguard that handles serious use without the bulk.
