Federal Premium HEVI-Bismuth shotshells in 16-gauge 2-3/4" deliver a practical alternative for hunters who want to move away from steel but still need reliable, dense shot for upland birds and waterfowl. Loaded to 1400 fps with 1-1/8 oz of #3 shot per round, these shells pack bismuth pellets at 9.6 g/cc density—22 percent denser than lead-equivalent steel—giving you more energy downrange without the weight of tungsten or the hardness that can damage classic gun barrels. Each box contains 25 rounds, so you've got enough to pattern test and put birds in the bag.

What makes these stand out is the FLITECONTROL FLEX wad. Unlike fixed chokes, this rear-deploying system adapts to ported and non-ported chokes alike, laying down consistent, tighter patterns regardless of your shotgun's setup. That matters on real hunts—you get the performance you see at the bench and more reliable kills at distance.

Bismuth is softer than both steel and tungsten, so you can safely run them through vintage or modern shotguns without worrying about bore damage. Federal partners with HEVI-Shot, the leader in alternative shot technology, to alloy and cast these pellets in the USA. If you hunt a 16-gauge and want a lead-free option that won't beat up your gun or your budget relative to tungsten, these are worth running through your pattern board.
