Federal
Federal Premium Hevi-Bismuth 12 gauge ammunition delivers the non-toxic shot you need for waterfowl and upland hunting without sacrificing knockdown power. Manufactured from bismuth pellets with a density of 9.6 g/cc—22 percent denser than steel—these loads generate more effective energy at distance while remaining safe to use in both modern and classic shotguns. If you're hunting areas where non-toxic shot is required or simply prefer bismuth's performance and gun-friendly properties, Hevi-Bismuth bridges the gap between steel's limitations and premium performance.
What sets Hevi-Bismuth apart is the combination of pellet density and the FLITECONTROL FLEX wad system. The wad deploys from the rear of the shot column, promoting consistent, efficient patterns whether you're shooting ported or non-ported chokes. The bismuth alloy itself—softer than both steel and tungsten—cycles reliably through semi-automatic and pump actions while delivering the pellet count and energy you'd expect from a density-forward load. The pellets are alloyed and cast in the USA, reflecting Federal's commitment to domestic ammunition manufacturing.
For hunters in non-toxic zones or those simply seeking a versatile bismuth alternative, Federal Premium Hevi-Bismuth offers the ballistic credibility of a trusted brand. Whether you're working over decoys or pushing through brush for roosters, the combination of downrange energy and pattern consistency gives you confidence in every shot.

Yes. Bismuth pellets are softer than steel and tungsten, making them safe for both modern and classic shotgun actions. However, always verify that your specific firearm is rated for the loads you're using by consulting your owner's manual.
Hevi-Bismuth is a non-toxic shot option that may be used where non-toxic ammunition is required. Verify your state and local regulations before hunting, as requirements vary by region and species.
Hevi-Bismuth pellets are 22 percent denser than steel, delivering more lethal energy downrange and achieving higher pellet counts in comparably performing loads. The denser bismuth also patterns more consistently through both ported and non-ported chokes.
FLITECONTROL FLEX is a rear-deploying wad design that promotes more consistent and efficient shot patterns. It works effectively in both ported and non-ported chokes, helping you achieve tighter groups and more predictable performance in the field.
