Federal
Federal Game Load Upland Heavy Field ammunition in 12 gauge 2-3/4" is purpose-built for hunters pursuing upland game birds. Whether you're working through brush for pheasants, flushing quail from dense cover, or taking shots over pointing dogs, this load delivers the pattern density and payload needed to cleanly connect on fast-moving targets at moderate distances. The 1 1/4 oz shot charge and No. 7.5 pellets strike a balance between effective shot count and energy retention—enough pellets for consistent hits without excessive patterning at typical upland ranges.
Federal engineered this ammunition around a hard-alloy round shot formula that resists deformation in the bore and shot cup, which means tighter, more uniform patterns downrange. The brass-plated steel head and one-piece wad design maximize the payload capacity in the hull, letting Federal pack more shot without pushing velocity into the stratosphere. Muzzle velocity runs 1220 feet per second—fast enough to be effective, moderate enough to be controllable and kind to older shotguns. The non-corrosive primer and quality propellant combination ensures reliable ignition in the field, whether it's a humid autumn morning or a dusty afternoon on the prairie.
If you shoot an upland pump or over-under regularly, Federal Game Load ammunition is a workhorse choice. It patterns well in most 12 gauge shotguns, won't leave you wallet-light after a full day hunting, and won't leave birds behind because of a flyer or miss. Comes in 25-round boxes—enough to sight in and hunt a day, or reload your vest between drives.

This load is engineered for upland bird hunting—pheasants, quail, grouse, woodcock, and similar game. The No. 7.5 shot size and 1 1/4 oz payload provide sufficient pellet count and energy for clean, ethical kills at the ranges typical of upland hunting.
Yes. The 2-3/4" shell length is the standard chamber length for most 12 gauge shotguns—pumps, semi-autos, over-unders, and side-by-sides. Confirm your gun's chamber is chambered for 2-3/4" shells; some modern shotguns are 3" or 3.5" magnums and will chamber 2-3/4" rounds safely, but always verify your firearm's specifications.
Each box contains 25 rounds, which is the standard upland hunting box size.
Federal Game Load uses No. 7.5 shot. This smaller pellet size produces 437 pellets per round, maximizing pattern density for upland game birds. It's a classic choice for pheasant and quail, offering a good balance of range, pattern, and pellet count—though shot size preference can vary by region and species, so check local regulations and consult experienced hunters in your area.
