Federal Fusion component .224 caliber 90-grain bonded soft point bullets give you the quality and consistency of factory ammunition in a handload. Built on the same proven Fusion design that's earned respect in hunting camps across the country, these 100-count bullets let you tailor loads to your rifle's preferences—and your budget. Whether you're working up precision loads for varmint hunting, match shooting, or general plinking, Fusion components deliver the expansion and weight retention hunters expect.
The bonded construction pairs a molecularly fused copper jacket with a pressure-formed lead core, creating a bullet that holds together on impact. This engineered bond means more consistent energy transfer and deeper penetration than traditional cup-and-core designs. The boat-tail profile helps these lighter rounds cut through the air cleanly, supporting the accuracy that handloaders demand—and every component comes with the uniformity of electro-chemically applied jackets, so you're starting from the same baseline with each bullet.
The skived, pre-programmed nose is designed to open reliably across a range of velocities, giving you a wider window for load development. For reloaders working .224 rifles—whether you're loading for a 5.56 NATO AR, a .223 Remington bolt gun, or a dedicated varmint rig—these bullets offer the precision and performance that separates careful handloading from simply assembling ammo.
| Caliber | .224 |
| Weight | 90 grains |
| Bullet Style | Bonded Soft Point |
| Count per Box | 100 |
| Jacket Type | Electro-chemically applied copper |
| Core Type | Pressure-formed lead |
| Profile | Boat-tail |
.224 caliber bullets work in rifles chambered for .223 Remington, 5.56 NATO, and other .224-bore cartridges. Always verify your specific rifle's bore diameter and load data before handloading.
Federal Fusion components use the same bonded jacket and pressure-formed core design found in Fusion factory loads. Handloading them lets you fine-tune powder charge and seating depth for your specific rifle while maintaining the expansion and weight retention you get from the factory version.
Yes. The bonded soft point design is engineered for reliable expansion and deep penetration—typical of hunting ammunition. That said, hunting regulations vary by region and game; always verify your local regulations for ammunition type, caliber, and bullet weight before using them afield.
Consult published handloading manuals and reloading guides for your specific .224 cartridge and powder combination. Start at the lower end of the recommended range and work up, watching for pressure signs. Never guess at load data.
