Faxon Firearms
The Faxon Firearms Match 223 Wylde 14.5" pencil-contour barrel is built for AR-15 builders who refuse to compromise between a lightweight platform and match-grade accuracy. Unlike heavier bull barrels that bog down your rifle, this slim-profile barrel sheds weight without sacrificing precision—a practical balance for hunters, competitive shooters, and anyone who carries their gun for serious distance work. Machined from GBQ 416-R stainless steel and triple stress-relieved at Faxon's Cincinnati headquarters, it's engineered to deliver repeatable, tight groups.
The 1:8 twist rate stabilizes a wide range of .223 Wylde ammunition, from lighter varmint rounds to heavier match loads, giving you flexibility without the guesswork. Five-groove rifling maximizes velocity and precision, while the .625-inch gas journal keeps your bolt carrier operating smoothly. The 11-degree target crown protects the muzzle while promoting consistent shot-to-shot performance, and the 1/2" x 28 TPI threads accept standard AR suppressors, brakes, or flash hiders.
At 14.5 inches, this barrel strikes a sweet spot for carbine builds—short enough for shootability and storage, long enough to wring velocity from your .223 and let your optic sit at a proper height above the bore. The nitride finish resists corrosion and requires minimal maintenance, so you spend more time shooting and less time babying your rifle. Whether you're building a precision rifle for long-range competitions or a practical hunting carbine, this Faxon barrel gives you the accuracy foundation serious shooters expect.

Yes. The barrel is threaded 1/2" x 28 TPI, which is the industry standard for .223/5.56 AR-15 suppressors, flash hiders, and muzzle brakes.
The slim pencil contour reduces overall rifle weight, making the platform easier to carry and maneuver without the fatigue of a heavier bull barrel. Despite the lighter profile, the match-grade construction and precision rifling maintain the accuracy required for competitive shooting and hunting.
The gas journal is the opening in the barrel where gas bleeds into the gas tube to cycle your bolt carrier. The .625-inch size is a proven standard that ensures reliable, smooth operation with most AR-15 upper assemblies and bolt carriers.
