Faxon Firearms
The Faxon Firearms Type II 6.5 Grendel bolt carrier assembly is built for shooters who demand precision and durability beyond standard mil-spec. Faxon starts with 9310 tool steel—a premium material that outperforms conventional bolt steel—then salt-bath nitriding the entire assembly to dramatically increase surface hardness, reduce friction, and deliver corrosion resistance that leaves phosphate-coated bolts in the dust. Every bolt is magnetic particle inspected (MPI) to catch internal flaws before they become failures downrange.
If you're running a 6.5 Grendel or building one from scratch, this bolt is engineered for reliability under demanding conditions. The bolt face is sized to SAAMI specification for 6.5 Grendel cartridges, and the lugs are chamfered at 45 degrees—a detail that ensures smooth, reliable feeding even with tight tolerances or high-pressure hand loads. The extractor is cut from S7 tool steel and comes fully assembled with spring, silicone insert, and o-ring, so you're ready to drop it in.
Faxon's approach treats mil-spec as the floor, not the ceiling. Full mil-spec heat treatment and shot peening are standard, but the nitriding process is where this bolt separates itself. You get a harder, slicker carrier that runs cleaner, resists corrosion better in harsh conditions, and cycles with less resistance—small gains that add up over thousands of rounds. Whether you're running a precision build at 1,000 yards or a rugged field gun, this bolt handles the work.
| Bolt Material | 9310 Tool Steel |
| Finish | Salt Bath Nitride |
| Bolt Face Type | Type II (.136" co-bore) |
| Caliber Compatibility | 6.5 Grendel, 6mm ARC (SAAMI spec) |
| Extractor Material | S7 Tool Steel |
| Assembly Status | Fully assembled with spring, insert, and o-ring |
| Heat Treatment | Full MIL-SPEC |
| Quality Assurance | Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), shot peened to MIL-SPEC |
Yes. The Type II (.136" co-bore) bolt face is sized to SAAMI specification for 6.5 Grendel cartridges. It is also compatible with 6mm ARC SAAMI spec barrels.
Nitriding increases surface hardness significantly and reduces friction, resulting in smoother cycling and better corrosion resistance compared to typical phosphated bolts. The nitrided finish also helps resist wear in harsh conditions.
Yes. The extractor, spring, silicone insert, and o-ring are all installed and ready to function. You can install it directly into a compatible carrier group.
Yes. All Faxon bolts undergo magnetic particle inspection (MPI) to verify the material is sound and free of internal defects before shipping.
