Faxon Firearms
The Faxon Firearms 5.56 NATO lightweight mil-spec bolt carrier group delivers race-bred reliability in a package that weighs just 8.5 ounces complete. Built for shooters who demand both performance and durability without unnecessary weight, this BCG combines mil-spec materials with smart engineering—QPQ salt bath nitriding on all major components, a 9310 tool steel bolt that's stronger than standard C158, and a superfinished carrier that runs slicker and cleaner than typical alternatives. Whether you're building a precision rifle, a lightweight AR for hunting, or a duty-grade platform, Faxon's attention to heat treat specs, material selection, and quality control means you get a bolt carrier that'll function reliably through tens of thousands of rounds.
Faxon obsessed over the details here. The bolt features full MPI (magnetic particle inspection) testing to catch defects before they ship, 45-degree chamfered lugs for reliable feeding even under high pressure, and shot peening per spec for toughness. The extractor is S7 tool steel—fully heat treated and nitrided—paired with a properly staked gas key using grade 8 fasteners. The carrier itself is MIL-SPEC 8620 steel with forward assist serrations that work with dust covers, and it maintains full-auto trip sear compatibility for modern multi-stage trigger systems. Everything gets laser-engraved with the Faxon shield after passing inspection, a mark of confidence you can see.
If you've been running a heavier or sluggish carrier, you'll notice the difference immediately. QPQ nitriding increases the natural slickness of the steel, reducing the gas pressure and friction needed for reliable cycling. That means smoother operation, less carrier tilt, and easier cleaning. All of this comes in a complete assembly that doesn't compromise on strength or function—just unnecessary weight.

Yes. Faxon uses MIL-SPEC materials and finishes or better throughout—8620 steel carrier, MIL-SPEC heat treatment on all components, and QPQ nitriding instead of traditional chrome or phosphate. The bolt is 9310 tool steel (stronger than standard C158), fully MPI tested, and shot peened to spec. Gas keys are grade 8 fasteners, fully staked.
Yes. The forward assist serrations are compatible with standard dust covers.
Yes. The BCG maintains the full-auto trip sear and is rated for full-auto fire. It's also compatible with new multi-stage trigger systems.
QPQ salt bath nitriding increases the natural slickness of the steel, which reduces friction and the gas pressure needed for reliable operation. It also provides superior corrosion resistance and wear resistance compared to traditional chrome and phosphate finishes, while requiring less frequent cleaning due to reduced fouling.
