Faxon Firearms
The Faxon AR-15 5.56 NATO 14.5" pencil barrel is built for shooters who refuse to compromise between weight and performance. This slimline barrel uses a narrow outside diameter both forward and behind the gas block—a smart design choice for anyone building a lightweight carbine or upgrading an existing platform. With a 1:8 twist rate, it handles everything from standard 55-grain rounds through modern, heavier defensive loads and beyond, making it genuinely versatile across common shooting applications.
Faxon barrels start with 4150 CMV carbon steel, one of the hardest materials available, then machine and finish them at an ISO-certified facility. This one arrives with a QPC black Nitride coating that resists corrosion and wear far better than bare steel—real protection for a component that takes real abuse. The 1:8 rifling is paired with M4 feedramps cut into the chamber, so rounds feed smoothly and chamber reliably even in adverse conditions. Every barrel is magnetic particle inspected before it ships, ensuring you get consistent, dependable quality.
The gas system layout accepts carbine- or mid-length gas tubes and uses a low-profile gas block (1" or shorter). The muzzle is threaded ½" x 28, the standard on most suppressors and muzzle devices in the AR world. Note that the pencil profile's slim diameter means it won't accommodate a standard-length front sight block—plan your setup accordingly.

Yes. The Faxon 14.5" pencil barrel uses standard AR-15 threading and tooling for installation. It accepts carbine- or mid-length gas tubes and low-profile gas blocks up to 1" long. Confirm your current gas system length and block height before ordering to ensure compatibility.
No. The pencil profile's narrow diameter will not accommodate a standard-length front sight block. Plan to use a low-profile gas block or other compatible mounting solution.
The 1:8 twist is designed to stabilize the full range of common 5.56 NATO loadings, from lighter 55-grain rounds through heavier modern defensive rounds. You'll have no trouble with ammunition from standard to specialized duty loads.
The barrel features ½" x 28 threading at the muzzle, the standard thread pitch for 5.56 NATO suppressors and muzzle devices. This is fully compatible with most common silencers, flash hiders, and compensators.
