The Faxon Ar10 Bbl 6.5 Creedmoor is a 22-inch heavy fluted barrel purpose-built for AR-10 platforms shooting the increasingly popular 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge. This is the barrel for long-range hunters and precision rifle shooters who want genuine performance improvements without unnecessary weight. Faxon's fluted design cuts mass while actually increasing barrel stiffness and thermal dissipation—a rare combination that matters when strings of shots are strung together on a range or during a long hunting day.

Built from triple stress-relieved 416R stainless steel, this barrel arrives with a black QPQ Nitride finish inside and out, plus an NP3-coated extension. The 5R rifling pattern uses offset lands and grooves to engage the bullet without the distortion that traditional rifling can introduce, yielding cleaner trajectories and easier cleaning downrange. The 1:8 twist rate is optimized to stabilize the 6.5 Creedmoor across its typical bullet weights. Every barrel passes magnetic particle inspection before it ships, catching hidden flaws that could compromise accuracy or durability.

The muzzle arrives with an 11-degree target crown and is threaded 5/8"-24, ready for a brake, compensator, flash suppressor, or suppressor—your choice. Whether you're assembling a precision target rifle, a long-range hunting build, or a modern sporting rifle platform, this Faxon barrel is engineered to deliver accuracy without compromise.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between fluted and non-fluted barrels?

Fluting removes material from the barrel's exterior in a controlled pattern, cutting weight without sacrificing—and actually improving—stiffness. The channels also increase surface area for better heat dissipation, helping the barrel cool between shots and resist thermal expansion that can throw off precision.

Is this barrel compatible with standard AR-10 receivers?

This is an AR-10 barrel with a standard extension, so it will fit AR-10 platforms and receivers. Always verify your specific receiver's compatibility before purchase.

Can I use a suppressor or muzzle brake with this barrel?

Yes. The barrel is threaded 5/8"-24 and ready to accept suppressors, muzzle brakes, flash hiders, or compensators in that thread pattern.

What does 5R rifling do differently than standard rifling?

5R rifling uses offset lands and grooves instead of the traditional opposed pattern. This design reduces bullet deformation as it travels down the barrel, which improves accuracy, extends case life, and makes cleaning easier because the bullet isn't being distorted against the rifling.
