Ed Brown
Ed Brown Government Double Diamond cocobolo grips bring premium aesthetics and proven durability to your 1911. Cocobolo wood stands apart among rosewood species for its exceptional density and striking grain character—qualities that have made it the material of choice for high-end handgun grips. The Government profile fits standard 1911 frames, while the Double Diamond texture pattern offers both visual appeal and genuine functional grip. At 1/4" thickness, these grips balance classic lines with a substantial, well-finished feel in the hand.
If you shoot a 1911 regularly, you know that grip choice affects both handling and reliability. Cocobolo's density means these grips resist the wear and sweat that can degrade lesser wood over time. The Double Diamond pattern isn't just cosmetic—it provides texture where you need it without feeling aggressive or overdone. Whether you're building a carry gun, match pistol, or range shooter, upgrading to quality grips is one of the most affordable and satisfying improvements you can make.
Ed Brown's reputation in the 1911 community rests on attention to detail and material selection. These grips reflect that standard, offering the kind of understated quality that experienced shooters recognize and appreciate. Cocobolo's rich color variation and figured grain ensure that no two sets are identical—your gun gets a one-of-a-kind look that still reads as professional and purposeful.
| Material | Cocobolo wood |
| Profile | Government (1911) |
| Pattern | Double Diamond |
| Thickness | 1/4" |
These are Government profile grips, which fit standard full-size 1911 frames. If your pistol uses a standard 1911 grip frame, these will fit. Verify your frame size before ordering if your 1911 is a compact or officer model.
Cocobolo is one of the densest rosewoods available, which means it's more resistant to wear, moisture damage, and the degradation that softer woods experience with regular shooting. It's also prized for the rich, varied grain patterns that make each set unique.
The Double Diamond provides a textured grip surface that improves control without being sharp or uncomfortable against the skin. It balances aesthetics with functional grip enhancement.
