Ed Brown
The Ed Brown 1911 HD XR front sight is a tactical night sight purpose-built for 1911 shooters who demand fast, reliable target acquisition in any light condition. This front sight combines a green tritium lamp with a bright orange photo-luminescent ring, giving you dual-source illumination that performs equally well in daylight, low light, and complete darkness. The orange ring catches ambient light and your flashlight beam during the day, while the tritium glows on its own when the sun goes down—no batteries, no buttons, no excuses. If you run an Ed Brown 1911 in service or competition, or you're retrofitting your existing 1911 platform, this sight drops in as a direct replacement and pairs seamlessly with any standard black rear sight.
The dimensional spec (.330″ width × .65″ height × .180″ depth) ensures proper fit on Ed Brown 1911 frames and standard 1911 slide cuts. The combination of tritium and photo-luminescent paint is a proven formula in tactical circles—you get the instant glow of tritium for true dark conditions, plus the daytime pop of the orange ring, all in one front sight. That dual visibility is the whole point: faster sight picture acquisition during transitional lighting, when your eyes are adjusting and precision matters most.
Tritium sights are a serious upgrade for any duty or defense 1911, especially if you're moving between indoor and outdoor ranges or carrying in variable light. The warranty on the tritium element itself is 12 years from manufacture, so you're getting a genuine Trijicon product with real longevity backing it.

Yes—the orange photo-luminescent ring is bright and visible in full daylight, giving you a fast front sight picture without relying on the tritium. The tritium becomes your primary aid when the sun goes down or you move indoors. This dual-source approach works whether you're at the range at noon or running low-light drills at dusk.
Trijicon warrants the tritium element for 12 years from the date of manufacture. After that period, the glow gradually diminishes over time, but the sight itself remains functional—the orange ring and the physical sight picture are still there if you need them.
You receive the Ed Brown 1911 HD XR front sight. Installation typically requires a gunsmith or an experienced 1911 builder, as it involves slide work and proper fitting to ensure safety and reliability.
