Dead Down Wind
The Dead Down Wind DEFEND 70005 bear and mountain lion spray is a compact 14 oz aerosol canister designed to give backcountry travelers a non-lethal defense option against large predators. Whether you're hiking remote terrain, camping in grizzly country, or hunting in cougar habitat, this spray delivers a powerful deterrent when an encounter turns dangerous. The formulation is built around capsaicinoids—the active compound in hot peppers—proven effective at stopping aggressive wildlife at distances up to 40 feet, giving you critical space to escape or de-escalate a dangerous situation.
Wildlife encounters don't announce themselves, and you won't have time to think when a bear or mountain lion is closing in. A reliable deterrent spray is insurance you can carry without the legal and ethical complications of lethal force. The 14 oz size strikes a balance between capacity and packability, fitting into a pack pocket, belt holster, or jacket pouch so it's actually there when you need it—not left in your truck. The aerosol delivery system works in the moment, no fumbling with powder or tablets.
If you spend time in predator country—whether you're a bowhunter, backpacker, or wilderness camper—bear and mountain lion spray isn't paranoia; it's preparation. Know your local regulations and carry practices before heading out, and always store and handle any deterrent spray safely and responsibly.
