Dead Air
The Dead Air Armament Blast Shroud .458 Cal with DA428 Keymo adapter is a muzzle device built to manage the sharp concussion and flash that comes with short-barreled .458-caliber rifles. If you run an SBR or pistol-caliber carbine unsuppressed, you know the problem: brutal muzzle blast that hammers you and everyone on the line, plus gas and flash that wash out your sight picture. This shroud redirects that energy forward, turning a punishing shot into something you and your neighbors can actually tolerate.
What makes the Blast Shroud earn its place in your rifle setup is how it handles the physics. By venting concussion forward rather than backward, you get genuine relief from recoil impulse and a cleaner sight picture for faster follow-ups. On shorter barrels especially, that muzzle extension also pushes the blast arc further from your support hand, reducing the risk of accidentally covering the muzzle. Built from 4140 HT steel with a black nitride finish, it's tough enough for hard use and built to survive the abuse a serious shooter dishes out.
The DA428 Keymo adapter included with this unit lets you integrate the shroud into Dead Air's modular ecosystem. That means you can swap configurations across different platforms and calibers as your inventory grows—no need to buy separate dedicated hardware for each gun. At 3.11 inches long and 7.4 ounces, it adds minimal extra length while staying light enough that you won't notice the weight penalty. If you're tired of flinching through follow-ups or getting glared at by the shooter next to you, this shroud solves a real problem on the range or in the field.
| Caliber | .458 |
| Thread Size | 1-3/8-24" |
| Material | 4140 HT Alloy Steel |
| Finish | Black Nitride |
| Length | 3.11" |
| Weight | 7.4 oz |
| Adapter Type | DA428 Keymo |
| Through Bore | .458 Cal |
This shroud is designed for .458-caliber unsuppressed short-barreled rifles and carbines. It threads directly onto 1-3/8-24" muzzles and can also mount over compatible Dead Air muzzle devices using the included DA428 Keymo adapter.
The shroud measures 3.11 inches long. On a short-barreled rifle, that's a meaningful extension, but it's intentional—pushing the muzzle further from your support hand reduces the risk of accidentally covering the muzzle during firing.
The Blast Shroud is designed to manage concussion on unsuppressed firearms. For suppressed setups, a suppressor alone will handle the sound and flash. If you want to run both, confirm compatibility with your specific suppressor and muzzle device before assembly.
This package includes the blast shroud and the DA428 Keymo adapter, which allows modular mounting and integration with other Dead Air accessories and suppressors across different platforms.
