Daniel Defense
The Daniel Defense DD4 SPRIII rifle in 5.56mm is a semi-automatic precision rifle built on the legacy of the legendary Mk12 Special Purpose Rifle. Engineered to meet the demands of Special Operations Forces, this 18-inch barreled rifle delivers the accuracy, durability, and modularity serious shooters and precision-minded hunters expect. With an 18-inch stainless steel barrel, rifle-length gas system, and a fully ambidextrous lower receiver, the SPRIII is equally at home on a precision range, in a hunting application where flat-shooting accuracy matters, or anywhere in between.
Daniel Defense engineered the SPRIII around a cold hammer-forged, MK12-profile barrel with DLC coating—a combination that promises exceptional longevity and shot-to-shot consistency. The rifle-length gas system and MK12 gas block are built to Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division specifications, ensuring reliable operation across a range of ammunition types and conditions. The 15-inch RIS III handguard, modeled after the SOCOM-proven RIS II design, gives you M-LOK attachment points and a full-length ARCALOCK bottom panel for accessory mounting without the bulk of older systems.
Ambidextrous controls throughout the lower receiver mean you can manipulate the safety, mag release, and charging handle from your firing side—no hand repositioning needed. The Timney Armorer's Series two-stage curved trigger breaks cleanly and consistently. Muzzle threading (1/2 x 28 TPI) accepts standard suppressors or the included DD Flash Suppressor, and the Magpul PRS Lite stock provides solid cheek weld and adjustability without excess weight. At 8.6 pounds unloaded, the SPRIII strikes a practical balance between a handheld rifle and a precision platform.
This is a rifle for shooters who understand that precision is about the sum of its parts—clean trigger, quality barrel, free-floating performance, and smart ergonomics. Whether you're dialing in distance shots, training for high-level shooting, or hunting in terrain where accuracy and reliability set you apart, the SPRIII earns its reputation.
