The CZ 457 American SR .22WMR bolt-action rifle delivers serious small-game hunting and target shooting capability in a classic, no-nonsense package. This rifle pairs CZ's reputation for precision manufacturing with a straightforward American-style design that works as hard as you do in the field. The 20-inch nitride-finished barrel cuts weight and improves handling without sacrificing the accuracy that makes the 457 line a favorite among hunters who demand reliability and repeatability from their rimfire.
Whether you're hunting coyotes at distance, managing rodents on your land, or ringing steel at the range, the .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire (WMR) round delivers more velocity and energy than standard .22 LR, giving you flatter trajectory and better performance on game. The bolt-action mechanism provides the reliability and fine trigger control serious shooters expect, and the American-style ergonomics make this rifle at home in any hunting or sport-shooting scenario.
CZ built the 457 platform on decades of rimfire expertise, and the American SR variant strips away unnecessary frills to focus on what matters: accuracy, durability, and shooter control. The nitride barrel finish protects against corrosion while maintaining a clean, professional appearance. This is a rifle for shooters who know their way around a rimfire and want a tool that handles everything from varmint control to precision target work without drama or excuses.

.22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire delivers significantly higher velocity and energy than standard .22 LR, resulting in flatter trajectory, better penetration, and improved performance on small game and varmints at extended range. The tradeoff is slightly higher cost per round and reduced ammo availability in some areas, but for hunting applications the ballistic advantage is real.
Yes. The .22 WMR cartridge and bolt-action precision make this rifle well-suited to small-game and varmint hunting. The 20-inch barrel balances portability with effective velocity, and the rifle's accuracy potential supports confident shooting at hunting distances.
Nitride is a surface hardening and corrosion-resistant finish applied to the barrel. It improves durability, resists rust and corrosion, and maintains its appearance and function through field use and storage.
