The Colt Mfg 1911 Government Series 70 .45 ACP is a single-action, full-size 1911 pistol built for shooters who want the real thing—not a modern reinterpretation. If you're after a .45 ACP 1911 that stays true to what made the design legendary, this stainless steel Government Model delivers authentic Series 70 mechanics in a package that works equally well for range time, competition, or a bedside role. The 5-inch barrel and all-steel frame keep recoil manageable while delivering the weight and pointability serious 1911 users expect.

This isn't a budget build or a mall-ninja special edition. Colt's Series 70 firing system recreates the original mechanical simplicity that made pre-WWII Government Models so reliable across every theater from Europe to the Pacific. You get a spur hammer, short steel trigger, and arched steel mainspring housing—the details that separate a genuine Government 1911 from contemporary attempts to improve on it. High-profile sights keep you on target, and the grip and manual safeties (both present and functional) follow the 1911 rulebook. Brushed stainless steel on both frame and slide resists corrosion while keeping aesthetics understated.

At 37.5 ounces loaded, this is a full-size 1911; it's not a carry gun for everyone, but it's exactly what you want if you've decided a .45 ACP 1911 belongs on your nightstand or workbench. The 8-round magazine capacity meets modern expectations without departing from the classic profile. Whether you're a 1911 purist, a .45 ACP devotee, or someone who simply respects proven design, this Colt Government Series 70 earns its place in your collection.
