The CMMG Bravo .22 LR AR-15 stainless steel bolt conversion kit transforms your centerfire AR-15 into an affordable rimfire trainer without buying a second rifle. If you want to sharpen your fundamentals—grip, sight picture, trigger control—without burning through expensive 5.56mm NATO ammo, this drop-in conversion system is the smart way to put rounds downrange and hone your marksmanship skills.

Installation is straightforward: remove your rifle's bolt carrier assembly and swap in the fully assembled Bravo unit. It's machined from stainless steel and works with any mil-spec AR-15 or carbine, including most gas piston systems. The included 25-round magazine feeds .22 LR reliably, and the whole setup lets you practice the same grip, sight alignment, and trigger press you use with your main rifle—just at a fraction of the ammunition cost. CMMG engineered this to handle the ballistics and pressures of rimfire, so you don't have to worry about reliability or safety when running standard .22 LR loads.

A couple of things to keep in mind: the Bravo works best with standard round-style AR-15 hammers; notched hammer designs can cause feeding issues. CMMG recommends Federal 36-grain plated round-nose ammunition for optimal performance. If you're serious about building trigger discipline and sight control without the expense of centerfire practice, this conversion kit pays for itself in ammo savings after a few range trips.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Bravo .22 LR conversion kit work with my AR-15?

Yes, as long as your rifle is a mil-spec AR-15 or carbine chambered in 5.56mm NATO, including most gas piston systems. The conversion is a straightforward bolt carrier swap with no permanent modifications to your rifle.

What ammunition should I use?

CMMG recommends Federal 36-grain plated round-nose .22 LR for best performance and reliability. Standard round-nose .22 LR ammunition works, but Federal's plated round-nose design has been tested and optimized for this system.

Does the kit work with notched hammers?

The Bravo performs best with standard round-style AR-15 hammers. Notched hammer designs can cause feeding and function problems, so verify your hammer type before installation.

What's included in the kit?

The kit includes the fully assembled stainless steel Bravo bolt conversion unit and one 25-round magazine. Simply install the conversion unit in place of your current bolt carrier group and you're ready to shoot.
