Cimarron Firearms Co
The Cimarron Firearms Co 1873 John Russell is a lever-action rifle chambered in .357 Magnum with a 20-inch barrel, built on the proven Winchester 1873 platform that's defined American hunting and sport shooting for generations. This model carries Hollywood pedigree—Cimarron developed it in collaboration with their manufacturer to replicate the distinctive profile of the rifle featured in the classic Western film Hombre. The result is a compact, handy lever gun that splits the difference between the iconic look of a period rifle and the practical ballistics of a modern cartridge, making it equally at home on the range, in the field, or as a standout piece in any serious gun collection.
The .357 Magnum chambering opens up real versatility. You can run full-power .357 loads for hunting medium game or push the boundaries of long-range pistol cartridge shooting, or step back to milder .38 Special ammunition for lower recoil and gentler handling during extended range sessions. The 20-inch barrel gives you the velocity the cartridge was designed for while keeping the overall package maneuverable in tight terrain or from a vehicle. That shortened magazine tube isn't just styling—it keeps the gun balanced and quick-handling, a genuine advantage if you're moving through brush or working from horseback.
Cimarron's commitment to authenticity shines through in the heavy round barrel, which echoes the firearms that settled the West while delivering the mass and profile serious shooters appreciate for accuracy and heat management. Whether you're a lever-gun purist, a Western action shooter, or someone who simply refuses to hunt with what everyone else is carrying, the 1873 John Russell delivers character and genuine capability in one package.
