A Christensen Arms 16" carbon fiber barrel in .223 Wylde gives your AR-15 build a match-grade foundation without the weight penalty of traditional steel. This barrel pairs aerospace-grade carbon fiber construction with a stainless steel bore to deliver the accuracy you need for precision rifle work—whether you're zeroing at the range, hunting varmints, or competing in precision events. The .223 Wylde chamber accepts both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition, giving you flexibility without sacrificing precision.

Christensen Arms engineered this barrel using a proprietary layered carbon fiber wrap around a 416R stainless steel lining. The match-grade bore is held to extraordinarily tight tolerances—plus or minus .0001 inch—so every shot groups where you aim. The 16" length balances velocity with handling, making it equally at home on a compact build or a general-purpose rifle. A 1/2x28 threaded muzzle lets you add a suppressor, brake, or flash hider without modification.

If you're building or upgrading an AR-15 and refuse to compromise on accuracy, a carbon fiber barrel from Christensen Arms delivers the precision engineering of aerospace manufacturing at the shooting bench. It's lighter than steel, stiffer than standard barrels, and finished to tolerances that matter downrange.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this barrel work with 5.56 NATO ammunition?

Yes. The .223 Wylde chamber is designed to safely and accurately fire both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition, giving you flexibility with ammo selection without compromising precision.

What's the advantage of carbon fiber over a standard steel barrel?

Carbon fiber construction significantly reduces weight compared to steel while maintaining rigidity. For a 16" barrel, this means a lighter overall rifle without sacrificing the accuracy and durability of the match-grade stainless steel bore.

What muzzle devices can I use with the 1/2x28 threads?

The 1/2x28 threaded muzzle is the standard for .223 and 5.56 rifles, so you can attach most suppressors, flash hiders, compensators, and muzzle brakes designed for that pattern. Check your accessory's thread pitch to confirm compatibility.

Is this barrel appropriate for long-range or competition shooting?

Yes. The match-grade bore and tight tolerances make this barrel suitable for precision rifle applications. The 16" length is better suited for mid-range accuracy work than extreme long-range, but the quality of the barrel supports consistent, accurate shooting where it's mounted.
