CHIAPPA FIREARMS
The Chiappa Rhino 40Sar is a distinctive revolver that challenges conventional handgun design—and delivers a noticeable difference in how it shoots. Unlike traditional revolvers where the barrel sits above the cylinder, the Rhino fires from the bottom of the cylinder, positioning the bore axis much closer to your hand. This low-bore design significantly reduces muzzle rise and felt recoil, making it easier to stay on target during rapid fire or when you're managing a powerful magnum load. Chambered in .357 Magnum with a 4-inch barrel, it's built on an aluminum alloy frame and barrel shroud that keep weight minimal without sacrificing durability—ideal if you're carrying a full-power revolver all day.
The mechanical design reflects Chiappa's unconventional thinking throughout. The firing mechanism is completely enclosed, allowing you to shoot single-action or double-action without a traditional external hammer snagging on holsters or gear. What looks like a hammer is actually a cocking device, and a visible indicator shows you the internal hammer status at a glance. The cylinder itself is hexagonal rather than round, keeping the gun's profile compact. Accessory rails underneath the barrel let you mount lights or lasers for defensive or night shooting setups. It ships with a fiber optic front sight for fast target acquisition and three moon clips for loading and unloading.
Whether you're building a defensive revolver setup, want to explore a design that genuinely handles magnum recoil differently, or simply appreciate firearms engineering that thinks outside the cylinder, the Rhino 40Sar stands apart in a crowded market. Blued finish, solid ergonomics, and genuine innovation in a 357 Magnum platform.
| Caliber | .357 Magnum |
| Barrel Length | 4 inches |
| Cylinder | 6-round hexagonal |
| Action | Single-action / Double-action |
| Frame | Aluminum alloy |
| Finish | Blued |
| Front Sight | Fiber optic |
| Accessories Included | Three moon clips |
By moving the bore axis down toward your hand instead of sitting above the cylinder, the gun recoils more in line with your arm and wrist rather than rotating upward. This translates to less muzzle rise, easier target reacquisition, and noticeably less felt recoil—a real advantage when shooting .357 Magnum rounds.
The Rhino's profile is more compact than traditional revolvers due to its hexagonal cylinder, and there's no external hammer to snag. However, compatibility depends on your holster design. We recommend confirming your chosen holster is rated for the Rhino's unique frame shape before purchase.
It includes a fiber optic front sight, which provides bright, fast target acquisition in varied light conditions. The rear sight details are not specified in our data.
The revolver comes with three moon clips, which simplify loading and unloading .357 Magnum ammunition and secure the rounds in the cylinder.
