CHIAPPA FIREARMS
The Chiappa 1873 Hunter is a single-action revolver that brings classic Winchester-era handling to modern .44 Magnum shooting. Built on proven design principles, this 7.5" barrel revolver is a serious choice for hunters who want a hunting handgun with real stopping power and the ergonomic feel that generations of shooters have relied on. If you're looking for a single-action .44 Mag revolver that balances traditional aesthetics with practical features, the Chiappa 1873 Hunter delivers the combination of style and substance that works in the field.
The 7.5" barrel strikes a balance between velocity and handling—long enough to wring out respectable ballistics from full-power .44 Magnum loads, yet manageable for a handheld hunting sidearm. The revolver holds 6 rounds of .44 Mag ammunition and operates via manual extraction, giving you direct control over the firing and unloading process. The steel construction and black finish are built to take field use and stand up to the elements, while the Hogue rubber grips provide a secure, comfortable hold even in demanding situations.
What sets this revolver apart for hunters is the adjustable rear sight with green fiber optic elements. That rear sight arrangement lets you dial in elevation and windage for precise shot placement at distance—a feature that matters when hunting with a handgun. Combined with the manual single-action trigger system, you get the control needed for deliberate, accurate shooting. The transfer bar safety is a modern safety mechanism that prevents unintended discharge, giving you confidence when carrying and handling the gun.
At just under 3 pounds and 13.3 inches overall, the Chiappa 1873 Hunter is a realistic option for extended carry in the field without becoming a burden. This is a straightforward, functional revolver for hunters and shooters who value single-action simplicity and .44 Magnum performance.
