The Caldwell E-MAX Low Profile Electronic Earmuffs deliver serious hearing protection without the bulk that gets in the way of your shotgun stock or action-shooting setup. With a 23dB noise reduction rating and intelligent sound-activated circuitry, these earmuffs let you hear range commands and natural sounds while instantly shutting down harmful impulses above 85 decibels. If you shoot shotgun, compete in action events, or spend long sessions at the range, a low-profile design that won't interfere with your cheek weld makes a real difference in comfort and performance.

The dual-microphone setup gives you genuine stereo hearing, which means you can actually locate where a sound is coming from—handy for range safety and situational awareness. Each cup has its own microphone, so directional cues stay sharp and natural. You've got independent volume control to dial in amplification to your preference, and an integrated audio jack means you can pipe in music or training audio if you want. The padded, adjustable headband handles all-day wear without fatigue, and the whole thing folds down compact when you're packing it away.

Power comes from two AAA batteries (sold separately), and the indicator light lets you know the unit is on. Grab these if you need hearing protection that actually gets out of the way—especially if you're shooting shotgun or moving fast between positions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will these earmuffs work with my shotgun or rifle?

The low-profile earcup design is specifically engineered to minimize interference with shotgun stocks and allows better cheek weld on rifles. They won't get in the way the way full-sized muffs can.

Can I hear conversations and range commands while wearing them?

Yes. The dual microphones amplify sounds below 85 decibels, so normal speech and range commands come through clearly. Once sound exceeds 85dB—like gunshots—the microphones shut off for a split second to protect your ears.

Can I connect music or training audio to these?

Yes, there's an integrated audio input jack that lets you play music or training audio through the earmuffs.

What batteries do I need?

The E-MAX uses two AAA batteries, which are not included with the earmuffs.
