Buckeye Baits
The Buckeye Football Jig in 3/4 oz Black/Blue is a bottom-hugging lure built for bass anglers who need to cover structure and heavy cover with confidence. The flat-head design is the key here—it keeps the jig upright and stable as it crawls along the bottom, mimicking a foraging crawfish or other natural prey that bass can't resist. This stance matters when you're fishing rocky areas, stumps, or thick vegetation where a traditional round-head jig would roll over or get snagged.
Durability is engineered in. The fiber weedguard is heavy-duty enough to handle repeated casts through brush, rocks, and laydowns without hanging up on every piece of cover—which means more time fishing and less time picking debris out of your lure. The high-quality silicone skirt provides natural movement and lifelike action in the water, whether you're working it slow on the bottom or burning it back to the boat.
At 3/4 oz, this jig has enough mass to reach deeper structure and hold bottom in mild current, making it versatile across a range of depths and conditions. The Black/Blue color combo is a proven producer year-round, especially in stained water or low-light conditions. Pair it with a crawfish trailer or creature bait and you've got a rig that works from spring through fall.
| Weight | 3/4 oz |
| Color | Black/Blue |
| Jig Style | Football |
| Brand | Buckeye Baits |
Black/Blue is a year-round color that performs particularly well in stained water and low-light conditions. The contrast between dark and blue creates a visible profile that bass can track easily, making it a solid choice from spring through fall and a reliable go-to in early morning or overcast days.
Yes. The fiber weedguard is designed specifically for fishing around thick structure—brush, rocks, and vegetation. It'll help you avoid snags and hang-ups without sacrificing hook-setting power when a bass commits.
This is a 3/4 oz football jig, which gives it enough mass to reach deeper structure and hold bottom in current while still allowing for precise, controlled presentations around cover.
The flat-head keeps the jig standing upright on the bottom instead of rolling over. This creates a more natural appearance—mimicking a crawfish in a defensive posture or foraging—and makes the lure more visible to bass hunting along the bottom.
