B&T Firearms
The B&T Firearms SD-145616 Redshift Thread Protector 9" is a muzzle-mounted protective cap designed to shield your rifle's threaded barrel when a suppressor isn't attached. Built for shooters who run suppressors part-time or rotate between suppressed and unsuppressed configurations, this thread protector keeps threads clean and undamaged—critical for maintaining a secure, concentric fit when you do mount a suppressor. The Redshift finish gives it a distinctive appearance while standing up to the rigors of field use.
Thread protectors are often overlooked until you've got dirt, carbon, or dings on your muzzle threads and your suppressor won't seat properly. This B&T piece solves that problem before it starts. Whether you're running your AR out to the range unsuppressed one day and threaded the next, or you own multiple hosts and move suppressors between them, keeping threads protected extends the life of both your barrel and your silencer. It's a simple, inexpensive insurance policy that every suppressor-ready rifle should have.
The 9" designation refers to the length of the thread protector. Verify that your barrel's thread pitch and diameter match this component's specifications before purchase to ensure proper fit and function.

Thread protectors are designed to fit specific thread pitches and diameters. Confirm your barrel's thread specifications—common sizes include .223/5.56 NATO (1/2-28), .308 Winchester (5/8-24), and others—match the SD-145616 before purchase.
A thread protector is purely defensive: it caps the threads to keep them clean and protected when no other muzzle device is installed. Brakes and flash hiders are functional muzzle devices that affect recoil or muzzle flash. Use a thread protector on a suppressor-ready rifle when you're not running a suppressor.
Not necessarily—if your suppressor is permanently mounted or always installed, a thread protector isn't required. But if you rotate suppressors between rifles or shoot unsuppressed regularly, a protector keeps threads in top condition.
