Browning
The Browning 1911-22 is a single-action rimfire pistol built for shooters who want the classic 1911 ergonomics and handling in a softer-shooting, lower-recoil package. Scaled to approximately 85% of the original Model 1911, this .22 LR pistol pairs the iconic profile with straight-blowback simplicity—no barrel tilting, no complicated lockup. It's a legitimate training tool, a tack-driving plinker, and an honest answer to anyone who wants 1911 mechanics without the centerfire kick. The Cerakote-finished aluminum slide adds visual flair while the composite frame with aluminum sub-frame keeps weight manageable.
This isn't a conversion kit or a half-measure. Browning engineered the 1911-22 from the ground up and tested it thoroughly to deliver the feel and reliability you'd expect from the name. The extended ambidextrous safety, beavertail grip safety, skeletonized hammer and trigger, and flat mainspring housing all translate lessons learned from thousands of centerfire 1911s into a gun that handles intuitively for shooters across a broad range of hand sizes. The 4.25-inch barrel is standard Model 1911 proportions; the steel 10-round magazine and coil-spring feed system keep rounds moving reliably downrange.
Whether you're training for centerfire accuracy, introducing a new shooter to the 1911 platform without flinch, or stocking up on affordable range ammunition, the 1911-22 delivers the controls and ergonomics that have made the 1911 design dominant for over a century. The included pistol rug provides basic protection for safe storage or transport.

Yes. The 1911-22 is built with the same manual controls, safety placement, and ergonomic layout as a centerfire 1911, making it an excellent training and practice tool. The lower recoil and ammunition cost make high-volume practice more affordable while you refine your mechanics and accuracy.
The Browning 1911-22 comes with one steel 10-round magazine and a pistol rug for storage and transport.
The original .45 ACP Model 1911 uses a tilting barrel and complex lockup. The 1911-22 uses straight-blowback operation, which simplifies the design while maintaining the iconic 1911 profile and controls. This design choice works reliably with the lighter recoil of .22 LR ammunition.
The 1911-22 is scaled to approximately 85% of the original Model 1911, not a simple conversion kit or barrel swap. It was precision-engineered and tested as a complete design to deliver authentic 1911 handling and ergonomics at a smaller scale.
