Brownells
A wool bore mop is a cleaning essential that belongs in every shooter's maintenance kit—and the Brownells Wool Bore Mop 22-270 Caliber 12 Pack gives you a reliable supply for regular rifle cleaning. Unlike synthetic alternatives, natural wool fibers hold cleaning solutions and oils effectively, ensuring both ends of the barrel receive thorough coating with each pass. The material's inherent spring allows the mop to conform naturally to rifling grooves without requiring extra pressure, which matters when you're working through tight precision bores.
Built to last longer than cheaper mops, these wool mops pair a looped and twisted brass shank with a brass coupling—hardware chosen specifically to avoid scarring or damaging bore surfaces during the cleaning process. Whether you're breaking in a new rifle, maintaining a hunting gun between seasons, or keeping a range rifle in fighting trim, wool mops deliver consistent, gentle performance that won't compromise accuracy through mechanical wear.
The 12-pack format means you'll have spares on hand and won't need to baby a single mop through multiple solvents or oils. Stock a few in your cleaning kit, your range bag, and your truck, and you'll always be ready to put your rifle in top condition.
| Caliber Fit | 22-270 |
| Material | Virgin wool with brass shank and coupling |
| Quantity | 12 pack |
Yes. The brass coupling is designed to fit standard rifle cleaning rod adapters.
Natural wool fibers hold cleaning solutions and oils more effectively than many synthetics, deliver excellent conformity to rifling without excessive force, and resist bunching or matting during use.
While one mop can move between different products, having multiple mops on hand (hence the 12-pack) lets you dedicate specific mops to different cleaning stages—one for solvent, another for oil—which is cleaner and more efficient.
These mops are sized for the 22-270 caliber range. Check your specific rifle's bore diameter if you're unsure of compatibility.
