Brownells
Brownells Tank Solvent in 5-gallon volume is a petroleum-based cleaning solution built for the realities of firearms maintenance—stripping fouling and grime without the guesswork. Whether you're running a dedicated bench-top cleaning station or repurposing a bucket between range sessions, this solvent handles slow soaks, dunk-and-scrub work, or however you prefer to clean. It's engineered to break down the stubborn combination of powder residue, dirt, and dried gun oil that accumulates in actions and bores, then keeps that dissolved crud suspended so a simple flush or wipe gets it out of your gun.
The formulation leaves behind a thin protective oil film—practical rust insurance during storage or between cleaning cycles. What sets this solvent apart is its staying power: it evaporates extremely slowly, so your bucket stays useful across multiple cleaning sessions without constant replenishment. The nearly odorless composition makes it suitable for indoor work and extended use without the headache-inducing fumes of harsher solvents. Chemically stable and non-corrosive, it won't degrade firearms metals or damage your investment in quality firearms.
Brownells Tank Solvent cleans up easily with Dicro-Clean 909 and won't interfere with future refinishing work—a detail that matters if you plan to have a gun reblued or replated down the road. One important caveat: avoid contact with paint, plastics, and some wood stock finishes, as the solvent can damage those materials. Keep it confined to metal parts and bore cleaning.
