Brownells
The Brownells M16 Bolt Carrier Group is a chrome-finished complete BCG built for shooters who want authentic retro aesthetics combined with proven reliability. Designed to work in any AR-15 or M16 rifle chambered in 5.56x45mm, .223 Remington, or 300 AAC Blackout, this M16 BCG captures the look and function of early military and civilian AR platforms while delivering the corrosion resistance of chrome plating across all critical components.
What sets this carrier group apart is the attention to detail in both materials and inspection. The bolt is machined from 9310 steel—a material choice that speaks to durability under high pressures—and undergoes magnetic particle inspection to catch any subsurface flaws before it leaves the factory. The carrier itself is forged from 8620 hardened steel. Both receive a matte silver chrome finish, as do the extractor, gas key, and cam pin, ensuring that every moving part resists corrosion and wear over thousands of rounds.
Available in two configurations, this BCG lets you match your build's era: choose the model without forward assist serrations to mirror the original Air Force 601, or select the serrated version found on XM16E1 rifles from the mid-1960s. Either way, you're getting a complete carrier group—bolt, carrier, gas key, firing pin, cam pin, and firing pin retaining pin—ready to drop in and run. The extractor includes its spring and rubber insert, and the gas key arrives torqued and staked for peace of mind.
Whether you're building a clone rifle, restoring a vintage platform, or simply prefer the proven ergonomics and appearance of classic AR design, this Brownells M16 BCG delivers reliable function without compromise.
