Brownells
The Brownells Double-Up Cotton Mop 12 Gauge 3 Pack gives you a no-fuss way to keep your shotgun bore clean between range sessions and hunts. These cotton mops thread onto your cleaning rod and work with Brownells' modular system—you can pair them with brushes, stack multiple mops for extra absorption, or run them solo depending on what your barrel needs that day. It's the kind of simple upgrade that makes gun cleaning faster and more effective, which matters when you're running a 12 gauge hard.
Cotton mops soak up solvents and fouling better than patches alone, getting into the bore's profile more thoroughly. Since you get three in the pack, you'll have backups on hand and won't be stuck waiting for one to dry between cleaning sessions. They're built to handle repeated use, so they're a solid long-term investment for any 12 gauge shooter who takes maintenance seriously.
Whether you're deep-cleaning after a clay shooting session or maintaining a hunting shotgun, these mops fit into a cleaning routine that's actually sustainable—no fiddling with tiny patches that slip off the jag. If you already run Brownells cleaning tools, the Double-Up system slots right in. If you're just starting to upgrade from basic bore cleaning, this is a logical first step that will make you wonder why you didn't grab them sooner.
| Gauge | 12 |

Yes—they thread onto standard cleaning rods. Just make sure your rod's jag or connector matches the mop's threading, which is typical across most shotgun cleaning systems.
Mops absorb more solvent and contact the bore more thoroughly due to their larger surface area and cotton construction. They're particularly effective for removing fouling and for longer cleaning sessions where you want better saturation of the bore.
Cotton mops hold up to repeated use and cleaning. We don't have a specific use-life spec, but they're built as reusable tools—not disposable patches. Replace them if they show visible wear or compression.
Yes—that's the whole idea of the Double-Up system. You can thread a mop and brush together, or add another mop, and run them through the bore in one motion for combined scrubbing and absorption.
