Brownells
The Brownells AR-15 mil-spec collapsible stock assembly is a drop-in buttstock solution built around the proven design of the US military M4 carbine. Whether you're running a rifle, carbine, or anything in between, this six-position adjustable stock lets you dial in the perfect length of pull for your frame, gear, and shooting style—critical if you swap between bare shooting and running body armor. It's the kind of foundational upgrade that transforms how an AR feels in your hands, and Brownells' version gives you the durability and fit you'd expect from a reputable parts supplier.
Installation is straightforward on any standard AR-15 lower receiver. The assembly comes complete with the buffer tube, receiver lock plate, lock nut, carbine recoil spring, buffer, and a steel sling loop welded to the stock for tactical or hunting carry. The buttstock itself is injection-molded nylon reinforced with fiberglass, engineered to shrug off impacts, temperature swings, moisture, and the corrosive effects of most gun cleaning solvents—important if you run this gun hard or in rough conditions. The stock interior is precision-matched to the mil-spec (1.14" O.D.) buffer tube, so you get a tight, rattle-free fit with no unwanted play.
The locking mechanism uses a steel nut with four square notches and factory-cut detents, designed to accept a stake for permanent lockup if you prefer. For most shooters, though, the detents hold position reliably through normal use. This is a no-frills, proven design—not exotic, just solid and functional.
