The Bravo Company A2X Flash Hider is a mil-spec muzzle device built to the proven A2-pattern design that's been standard on AR platform rifles for decades. Built from steel and finished in black, this flash hider threads onto 1/2"-28 AR-15 barrels and includes a pre-drilled hole and pin for permanent installation. When correctly mounted and pinned to your barrel per BATF specifications, it brings a 14.5" barrel up to civilian-legal 16.1" overall length—a practical solution if you're building a rifle that needs to clear the NFA threshold without paperwork or stamps.

This is a no-frills, proven design. The A2 flash suppressor does what it's meant to do: reduce visible muzzle flash in low-light conditions and meet length requirements for short-barreled AR builds. It's not a compensator, not a muzzle brake—just a straightforward suppressor that's served riflemen on duty and in the field for generations. BCM manufactures to exacting standards, so you get consistent dimensions and reliable fitment on your 1/2"-28 threaded barrel.

Installation should be handled by a qualified gunsmith experienced with BATF regulations and permanent muzzle device installation. The pre-drilled pin hole makes the assembly straightforward for a professional, but cutting, pinning, and ensuring permanent installation must be done correctly to meet legal requirements. If you're building a short-barreled AR and need to hit 16.1" overall length without going the NFA route, this is a solid, time-tested choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit my AR-15 barrel?

Yes, if your barrel has 1/2"-28 threads. This is the standard thread pitch for AR-15 muzzles. Confirm your barrel's thread size before ordering, as some specialty or precision barrels may use different pitches.

How does this help with overall rifle length?

A 14.5" barrel falls short of the 16" minimum for civilian rifles without NFA registration. When this flash hider is permanently installed and pinned per BATF specifications, it extends the overall length to 16.1", bringing your rifle into compliance without requiring a Form 1 and stamps.

Do I need a gunsmith to install it?

Yes. Permanent installation—pinning and welding the hider to the barrel—must be done by a qualified gunsmith familiar with BATF regulations and proper permanent installation techniques. This is not a user-install component.

What's the difference between a flash hider and a muzzle brake?

A flash hider is designed to reduce visible muzzle flash, particularly in low-light shooting. It is not a recoil management device. If you're looking to reduce recoil, a muzzle brake serves a different purpose and may not meet the permanent installation requirements for this length-extension application.
