Bond Arms Inc.
The Bond Arms Backup .45 ACP double barrel pistol is a compact concealed carry handgun built on a simple, time-tested principle: two barrels, two shots, and rock-solid reliability. If you're looking for a backup gun or a deep-concealment option that doesn't compromise on caliber, the Backup delivers serious stopping power in a package you can actually carry all day. This single-action derringer cuts through the noise of modern tactical trends and gives you what matters: dependable performance in a proven form factor.
Chambered in .45 ACP, the Backup hits well above its weight class. The 2.5-inch stainless steel barrel—finished in matte to resist glare and corrosion—gives you a fighting chance downrange without adding bulk to your waistband or ankle holster. At 18–19 ounces, it's light enough to forget you're carrying it until you need it. The retracting firing pins and rebounding hammer eliminate the risk of accidental discharge, a detail that matters when you're counting on this gun in real conditions.
Build quality shows in the details. Stainless steel frame with black crinkle powder coat finish handles daily carry and the occasional weather. The crossbolt safety is intuitive. The spring-loaded cammed locking lever is no gimmick—it tightens the barrel-to-frame fit and speeds reloading when every second counts. Fixed sights keep things simple and unbreakable. Bond Arms barrels are interchangeable, so down the road you can adapt the platform to another caliber without buying a whole new gun. Rubber grips provide positive control and durability without the slipperiness of bare steel.
This isn't a gun for everyone. It demands respect for the trigger and discipline in shot placement. But if you understand what a derringer is—and what it isn't—the Backup is one of the few modern double barrels worth considering as a serious backup or primary ultra-compact carry gun.

Yes. The Backup is purpose-built as a deep-concealment or backup pistol. At 4.5 inches long and under 19 ounces, it fits pocket holsters, ankle rigs, and appendix carry. The .45 ACP chambering means you're not sacrificing power for size, which is exactly what makes a backup gun worth carrying.
Bond Arms barrels are interchangeable, so you can swap the .45 ACP barrel for a different caliber barrel down the road. This lets you adapt the Backup platform to your changing needs without buying a new gun.
Single-action guns require you to cock the hammer before each shot. On the Backup, the rebounding hammer returns to a safe position after firing, and the crossbolt safety adds another layer of protection. This design trades speed for absolute reliability and safety—a fair trade in a backup gun.
We've provided the specifications and features Bond Arms includes with the gun. Check our current inventory for holster compatibility and accessory options available for the Backup platform.
