The Bob Allen 14535 52" green canvas shotgun case is built for hunters and sport shooters who want serious protection for their gun without the weight and bulk of hard cases. This traditional soft case combines canvas duck exterior with leather accents and a quilted flannel interior—the kind of setup that's been proven in the field for decades. At 52 inches, it accommodates most over-and-under and semi-auto shotguns, and the over-the-shoulder leather sling makes it genuinely packable for walks to the blind or between shooting stations.
What sets this case apart from basic gun bags is the attention to detail. The quilted flannel lining backed by cotton batting cradles your shotgun without plastic padding or synthetic materials that can trap moisture. The water-resistant canvas exterior sheds light rain and brush without being rigid—your gun stays protected but the case itself remains flexible enough to stow in a truck bed or lean against a blind. A reinforced leather tip covers the muzzle end, preventing dings and scuffs during transport. The #10 self-repairing nylon zipper (with leather pulls) is a practical touch that handles rough use and resists jamming.
Practical details matter here: a 10" × 4.5" exterior pocket holds chokes, cleaning supplies, or shells. Double antique brass zippers with locks let you secure your gear. The leather spine and sling are substantial enough to handle real carry weight without fraying or stretching. This is the kind of case that works as well in your truck for the next trip as it does a decade from now—assuming you don't baby it.

The 52-inch length accommodates most standard shotguns, including over-and-under, side-by-side, and semi-auto 12-gauge and 20-gauge models. Measure your gun from muzzle to buttpad to confirm fit; very long turkey barrels or unusual stocks may require verification.
Canvas is lighter and more packable than hard cases, but provides solid protection against bumps, weather, and minor impacts. The quilted flannel lining and leather muzzle tip protect against dings and scuffs. For maximum protection (airport transport, vehicle drop damage), hard cases are preferable. This case excels for field use and standard gun storage.
The over-the-shoulder leather sling and hand-carry design make it practical for hikes to the blind or between fields. Weight distribution depends on your shotgun, but the leather sling spreads load across your shoulder reasonably well. Many hunters prefer this over rigid cases for mid-range carries under a mile.
The canvas duck exterior is treated for water resistance, so it sheds light rain and morning dew. It's not waterproof—heavy rain, submerged drops, or prolonged wet storage may eventually allow moisture in. In humid or wet climates, you may want to add a gun sock or silica inside for extra moisture protection.
