Blakemore
The Blakemore Road Runner Turbo Tail 1/16 is a compact jig designed for crappie anglers targeting shallow, structure-rich water. At 1/16 ounce, it's light enough to cast on ultralight gear yet heavy enough to reach productive depths quickly. The combination of red, blue, and pearl finishes gives you color options to match local forage and water conditions—carry all three in your tackle box and let the fish tell you which they prefer on any given day.
This underspin jig features a polished stainless steel blade angled at 30°, which creates a distinctive flutter and vibration as the lure falls and works through the water column. That action triggers strikes from crappie holding 4 to 5 feet down, where they often relate to cover. The stainless steel shaft resists bending under the stress of hooksets and fighting fish, and the VMC tail hook is razor-sharp and dressed for reliable penetration—the kind of detail that separates consistent crappie days from frustrating ones.
Whether you're fishing brush piles, timber, or pier pilings, the Turbo Tail's profile and action make it effective across a range of conditions. The 12-count caddy keeps a dozen baits organized and protected, so you always have fresh lures ready to tie on. This is practical, no-nonsense gear for anglers who take crappie seriously.
The Blakemore Road Runner Turbo Tail works best around shallow structure—brush, timber, and pilings—where it runs effectively 4 to 5 feet below the surface. Its light 1/16 ounce weight makes it ideal for precisely casting around individual targets rather than covering large open areas.
You get three proven colors in this pack: red, blue, and pearl. Start with the color that most closely matches the forage in your water—shad patterns (pearl) tend to work year-round, but local minnow populations and water clarity should guide your choice. Having all three on hand means you can adjust quickly if the fish prefer something different.
Yes. The stainless steel shaft resists bending, and the VMC hook is designed to hold up to hooksets and sustained fighting. The blade is polished stainless steel as well, so it won't rust or corrode even after heavy use in freshwater.
