Blakemore
Crappie fishing comes down to triggering strikes with the right combination of action, vibration, and flash. The Blakemore Crappie Tamer 1/8oz underspin is built around a segmented body design that produces the extra sound and vibration crappie find hard to resist. Rigged on a size #1 hook, these spinners cut through the water column and work equally well around structure, open water, or suspended fish. Two come per pack in the proven chartreuse and black color combo—a pairing that delivers visibility and contrast in everything from clear lakes to tannic water.
Underspins occupy a middle ground between traditional jigs and spinnerbaits, offering faster fall rates than plain jigs while keeping the vibration signature crappie anglers rely on. The 1/8oz weight is versatile enough for shallow brush and deeper main-lake structure, making it a natural choice for spring spawns, summer transitions, and fall schooling periods. The ringed body amplifies water disturbance, drawing fish from a distance before they lock onto the flash and movement up close.
Whether you're fishing from a dock, working a creek channel, or casting shallow flats, the Crappie Tamer fishes best with light line and a steady retrieve—or let it flutter on semi-slack line near cover. Stock a couple of packs in your tackle bag; these baits get bit hard and often end up in a crappie's mouth rather than your pack.
| Weight | 1/8 ounce |
| Hook Size | #1 |
| Color | Chartreuse/Black |
| Quantity | 2 per pack |
| Type | Underspin |
An underspin has a small blade or spinner mounted below the hook, creating vibration and flash as it falls. This extra attraction helps draw fish from distance, while the ringed body on the Crappie Tamer amplifies that effect. A plain jig relies on color and subtle action alone.
Yes. The 1/8oz weight allows you to reach depths down to 15–20 feet depending on line and retrieve speed, making it suitable for main-lake structure and channel edges where summer and fall crappie suspend.
Light line (4–8 pound test) and a sensitive spinning or baitcasting rod let you feel the vibration and detect light bites. We don't have brand recommendations, but avoid heavy setups that mask the underspin's natural action.
Absolutely. The chartreuse in the color pattern creates high visibility in low-light and off-color water, while the vibration signature helps crappie locate the bait without relying purely on sight.
