Birchwood Casey
Birchwood Casey Perma Blue liquid gun blue in a convenient 2 oz squeeze tube is the fastest way to restore worn bluing or touch up scratches and worn spots on most steel firearms. Whether you're refinishing a neglected heirloom or maintaining the finish on a well-used hunting rifle, this liquid formulation delivers a uniform, non-streaky blue-black finish that looks factory-applied when applied to properly cleaned and rust-free steel.
The squeeze tube format makes precision application straightforward—no brush or applicator to source separately. Liquid Perma Blue works quickly, darkening the metal fast compared to paste alternatives, so you're not waiting around between coats. The finish is even and consistent, avoiding the blotchy results that plague inexperienced touch-ups. Keep one in your gun room, truck bed, or field kit for whenever scratches show bare metal.
Important: This liquid formula is designed for steel only and will not blue stainless steel, aluminum, or other non-ferrous metals. Success depends on starting with clean, rust-free steel—any residue or oxidation will interfere with even coverage and color development. For best results, thoroughly degrease and dry the area before application.

No. Perma Blue liquid gun blue is formulated for steel only and will not blue stainless steel, aluminum, or other non-ferrous metals. If you're working with stainless firearms, you'll need a different finish product.
The steel must be thoroughly cleaned and completely free of rust and residue for even coverage and proper color development. Degrease the area and allow it to dry fully before application.
Liquid Perma Blue darkens the metal faster than the paste version, though paste will build up a denser finish if that's your goal. The liquid is the choice when you want speed and a uniform result.
The 2 oz size handles both touch-ups and complete rebluing of most firearms, though how far it goes depends on the area you're covering. For larger projects, you may want to have extra on hand.
