Bill Lewis Baits
The Bill Lewis Rattle Trap 1/2 Parrot is a lipless crankbait built to cover water fast and trigger aggressive strikes from bass and other predatory fish. This half-ounce lure combines the proven lipless crankbait design with a loud, attention-grabbing rattle and flashy parrot finish—perfect for anglers who want a versatile hard bait that works across shallow flats, weed lines, and deeper structure. Whether you're casting and cranking in skinny water or burning the lure up a submerged slope, the Rattle Trap delivers the noise and flash that get fish to commit.
Lipless crankbaits earn their reputation because they do one thing exceptionally well: produce fish in a variety of conditions. The Rattle Trap thrives in situations where you need to fish shallow grass beds and tight cover where ambush predators lurk. The internal rattle generates vibration and noise that calls fish from a distance, while the compact profile and aggressive action cut through weeds without fouling. You can fish it shallow with steady retrieves, or drop it to the bottom near points and humps, then crank upslope, letting the lure bang and rattle through rocks and structure on the way back to the boat.
The parrot color option is a high-contrast, eye-catching pattern that works well in clear to moderately stained water where visibility and flash matter. This is a workhorse bait for bass fishermen who want a single lure that transitions between water conditions and depths without a tackle-box overhaul.

The Rattle Trap works in shallow water, mid-depth flats, and over deep structure. You can fish it as a shallow caster in grass and weeds, or allow it to sink to the bottom and retrieve upslope through deeper structure. Its versatility makes it effective in a wide range of conditions from clear shallow flats to deeper offshore areas.
Yes. The Rattle Trap is well-known for ripping through shallow grass beds and extracting strikes from bass holding in ambush. Its compact lipless profile resists fouling in vegetation, making it a reliable choice for weed-line fishing.
The internal rattle generates noise and vibration during the retrieve, calling fish from a distance and triggering strikes through auditory stimulus combined with the lure's flash and action.
The parrot finish is a high-contrast pattern that works best in clear to moderately stained water where visibility and flash are effective. In heavily stained or dark water, alternative colors may perform better, but parrot is an excellent all-around choice for most clear to medium-clarity situations.
