Betts Tackle
The Betts Dry Fly 2ct Size 10 Black Gnat is a reliable, ready-to-fish dry fly pattern that bridges the gap between quality construction and real-world affordability—exactly what you need when you're tying on fresh flies throughout a day on the water. Black gnats are a foundational pattern in any fly box: they match small dark insects that trout eat consistently across seasons and regions, from spring creeks to mountain streams. This two-pack gives you a spare when your first one gets chewed up or lost in the current.
Built on a Mustad hook, these flies are tied to exacting standards that outperform the typical budget offering you'll find elsewhere. The craftsmanship here matters: clean heads, durable thread wraps, and proportions that actually float and present naturally. For a fly that costs less than premium boutique tiers charge, you're getting honest construction that will catch fish without breaking your budget on a dozen different patterns.
Black gnats work year-round when small naturals are on the water. Fish them as part of a searching pattern in pocket water, or tie one on when you're seeing consistent rises to tiny insects. The Size 10 sits in that sweet spot between delicate presentation and easier visibility and handling—versatile enough for everything from spring creeks to faster moving sections.
