Barnes Bullets
Barnes TSX bullets in .22 caliber (.224" diameter, 53 grain flat base) deliver the controlled expansion and weight retention that have made the Triple-Shock X platform a reloader's go-to for precision rifle work. Built from 100 percent copper, these projectiles are engineered to expand on impact, creating four razor-sharp petals that cut deep through tissue and bone. Whether you're handloading for varmint hunting, competition, or precision rifle applications, the TSX design gives you the terminal performance and shot-to-shot consistency that serious reloaders depend on.
The 53-grain weight in .22 caliber strikes a balance between velocity and energy retention, making it suitable for medium-range work in rifles chambered for this popular diameter. Because these are pure-copper projectiles, they'll perform differently in your loads than traditional lead-core bullets—you may need to adjust powder charges and seating depth relative to your specific rifle and load data. Barnes recommends seating depth between 0.03 and 0.07 inches from the lands, though your particular rifle may prefer a different position within that range.
Each box contains 50 bullets, giving you enough for a solid reloading session or testing different load configurations. The flat base design supports reliable feeding in most magazine-fed systems and provides a straightforward platform for experimentation. If you're already familiar with TSX performance and want the consistency of a known quantity, or if you're exploring copper bullets for the first time, these 53-grain projectiles are worth trying in your .224" loads.
| Caliber | .22 cal (.224") |
| Grain Weight | 53 gr |
| Base Type | Flat Base (FB) |
| Construction | 100% Copper |
| Count | 50 per box |
| Recommended Seating Depth | 0.03–0.07" from lands (rifle-dependent) |
These .224" diameter bullets are designed for rifles chambered in .22 centerfire cartridges. Your specific rifle model will determine the optimal seating depth and load configuration, so always consult published reloading data for your exact caliber and rifle before loading.
Yes. Copper bullets require different load data than traditional lead-core projectiles of the same weight. Always use reloading data specific to Barnes TSX bullets and your cartridge; do not assume that a load suitable for a lead-core bullet will work safely with copper bullets.
This box contains 53-grain projectiles. If you need a different weight for your application, Barnes offers TSX bullets in other grain weights for the .224" diameter; check the available options to find the best match for your intended use.
Barnes recommends a starting range of 0.03 to 0.07 inches from the lands, but your individual rifle may prefer a different distance within or outside that window. Load testing and measuring your rifle's optimal seating depth is part of the handloading process; keep detailed records as you work up your loads.
