Barnes Bullets
The Barnes Bullets LRX BT 280 Ackley Improved 152gr round combines proven all-copper bullet construction with a design engineered for both precision and terminal performance across hunting scenarios. This load is built on the VOR-TX platform, Barnes' premium hunting ammunition line, and pairs the company's legendary LRX bullet—a 100% copper projectile—with a boat-tail profile and polymer tip for consistent long-range ballistics and reliable expansion on game.
The 280 Ackley Improved is a time-tested magnum cartridge favored by hunters who want flat trajectory and hard-hitting power without stepping up to larger calibers. The 152-grain LRX brings moderate recoil and excellent sectional density to the platform, making it a sensible choice for medium to big-game hunting where shot placement matters and you want margin for error. Barnes all-copper ammunition also delivers consistent performance without lead, a practical consideration for hunters in lead-free zones or anyone concerned with ammunition composition.
Each box contains 20 rounds—enough for a hunting season's worth of load development, practice, and field use. If you're running a 280 Ackley Improved and want factory ammunition you trust, this is worth a close look. The combination of Barnes' precision bullet-making and the cartridge's inherent accuracy makes this a solid option for hunters who appreciate quality over volume.

The 280 Ackley Improved is a magnum cartridge offering flat trajectory and strong energy retention. This load is designed for medium and big-game hunting. The 152-grain bullet weight provides a good balance of velocity, recoil, and terminal performance for most hunting applications within the cartridge's effective range.
Barnes all-copper bullets offer reliable expansion, excellent weight retention, and consistent performance across a wide velocity range. They're also the choice for hunters in lead-free ammunition zones or those who prefer non-lead ammunition for environmental and health reasons.
Yes, this is factory-loaded, finished ammunition ready for use in any rifle chambered in 280 Ackley Improved. Each box contains 20 rounds.
The boat-tail profile reduces drag and improves ballistic coefficient, helping the bullet maintain velocity and energy at distance. The polymer tip promotes aerodynamic consistency and contributes to reliable expansion. Together, these features support the precision you need for long-range hunting shots.
