Barnes Bullets
The Barnes Bullets 22 ARC 70-grain TAC-TX boat tail is a purpose-built all-copper expanding bullet engineered specifically for AR platform rifles and carbines. Designed to optimize terminal performance in the .22 ARC cartridge—which delivers lower velocities than standard rifle barrels—the TAC-TX features a larger tip geometry that promotes reliable expansion at reduced impact speeds. This design philosophy addresses a real challenge for short-barreled AR shooters: getting consistent, effective bullet expansion without sacrificing the ballistic advantages of all-copper construction.
Barnes crafted the TAC-TX cavity to maximize expansion even when velocities dip below what traditional expanding bullets require. The result is a round that performs predictably from carbine-length barrels while maintaining superior weight retention compared to lead-core alternatives. Shooters who demand accuracy and repeatability in their handloads—whether for training, tactical work, or field use—appreciate the consistency that all-copper bullets deliver across lots and the cleaner burn that comes with lead-free ammunition.
Each box contains 50 bullets, and the 10-box case format makes it convenient to stock up for serious reloaders. The boat-tail profile supports both accuracy and ballistic efficiency downrange, a detail that matters when you're dialing in loads for precision or distance shooting.
| Caliber | .22 ARC |
| Weight | 70 grains |
| Bullet Style | TAC-TX Boat Tail, All-Copper |
| Quantity per Box | 50 |
| Case Quantity | 10 boxes (500 bullets) |
| Manufacturer | Barnes Bullets |
The TAC-TX was designed with AR carbine platforms in mind, where shorter barrels produce lower muzzle velocities than full-length rifle barrels. The larger tip and optimized cavity geometry allow the bullet to expand reliably even at reduced impact speeds, ensuring consistent terminal performance across the typical velocity range of .22 ARC carbine loads.
Yes, TAC-TX bullets are constructed entirely from copper with no lead core. All-copper bullets deliver superior weight retention on impact, produce cleaner ballistic performance, and are preferred by shooters who want lead-free ammunition for both environmental and performance reasons.
Each case contains 10 boxes of Barnes Bullets 22 ARC 70-grain TAC-TX, with 50 bullets per box for a total of 500 rounds per case. This quantity is designed for serious reloaders who prefer to stock up on consistent, quality components.
The TAC-TX is optimized around AR platforms and carbine-length barrels. While they are .22 ARC bullets, their design prioritizes performance at the reduced velocities typical of short-barreled AR rifles. For other .22 ARC applications with different barrel lengths or velocity profiles, consult your load data and Barnes ballistics resources.
