The Armaspec ST45 short throw ambidextrous safety selector for AR-15 rifles cuts your fire-to-safe throw angle in half compared to a standard safety lever. If you run your AR hard—whether at the range, in competition, or in the field—a shorter throw means faster transitions and less wasted motion when you need to move between fire and safe. The ST45 is built for shooters who value speed and ergonomics without sacrificing control or reliability.

What sets the ST45 apart is its true ambidextrous design. You can manipulate the safety from either side of the receiver using either thumb or finger, which matters when you're shooting strong-hand-only, managing a malfunction, or simply favoring your support hand. The throw feels smooth in both directions—no binding, no grit—because the mechanism is precision-engineered to work the same way left or right.

Construction is straightforward and robust: aluminum levers sandwich a steel core, and Torx screws lock everything together. The Torx key you need for installation is included. Armaspec machines these in the USA and backs them with a lifetime warranty. Note that the ST45 is engineered for AR-15 and AR .308 lower receivers with "FIRE" markings positioned at 45 degrees; if your receiver has standard 90-degree FIRE markings, the AST90 is the correct selector for your build.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the ST45 safety fit my AR-15 lower receiver?

The ST45 is designed for AR-15 and AR .308 lower receivers that have "FIRE" markings positioned at 45 degrees. If your lower receiver has standard 90-degree FIRE markings, the Armaspec AST90 short-throw selector is the correct choice.

What makes the ambidextrous design useful?

An ambidextrous safety allows you to manipulate the selector from either side of the receiver using your dominant or support hand. This matters for transitions, shooting support-hand-only, and quickly addressing malfunctions without fumbling or changing your grip.

What hardware is included for installation?

The ST45 comes with the Torx key you need to install the selector. No additional tools are required for basic installation.

Is there a warranty on the ST45?

Yes, Armaspec backs the ST45 with a lifetime warranty.
