The AGM Global Vision Taipan TM10-256 thermal monocular brings serious thermal imaging capability to hunters, search-and-rescue teams, and anyone who needs to see heat signatures in total darkness. This handheld thermal monocular uses a 256×192 infrared detector paired with a 720×540 LCOS display to deliver clean, reliable thermal observation without requiring visible light—a genuine game-changer for nocturnal hunting, perimeter work, or backcountry navigation when conditions are pitch black.

What sets the Taipan apart is its blend of practical features built for real field use. The 1X–8X digital zoom lets you dial in detail on distant targets, while the hot-spot detection automatically identifies and marks the hottest object in your field of view. Distance measurement takes the guesswork out of range estimation: mark the top and bottom of your target, input its known height, and the monocular calculates distance for you. All of that data can be captured, recorded, and reviewed thanks to the built-in memory and Wi-Fi capability—connect to your phone via the AGM app to grab snapshots, log video, and tweak settings on the fly.

The battery is integrated and rechargeable via USB Type-C, rated for up to 8 hours of continuous runtime (with Wi-Fi off). Auto power-off and sleep modes help stretch that further in the field. At just over 12 micrometers of detector sensitivity, the Taipan handles low-contrast thermal scenes that would wash out lesser optics. Build quality is solid, and AGM backs the unit with a 3-year limited warranty—real peace of mind for gear this serious.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the Taipan TM10-256 for hunting in complete darkness?

Yes. The 256×192 thermal detector with 12 μm sensitivity captures heat signatures regardless of ambient light, making it ideal for nocturnal hunting when there's no moon or under heavy cloud cover. Thermal imaging detects the heat radiated by animals, not reflected light.

What's included to connect the monocular to my phone?

The Taipan has built-in Wi-Fi capability. Once connected to the AGM app on your smartphone, you can view live thermal, capture snapshots, record video, and adjust device settings—all wirelessly from your phone.

How does the distance measurement work?

You mark the top and bottom of your target in the thermal image, then input the target's known height. The monocular calculates the distance to that target automatically. It's a practical field tool for ranging game or other thermal objects without a separate rangefinder.

How long does the battery last on a single charge?

The integrated rechargeable battery is rated for up to 8 hours of continuous use with Wi-Fi disabled. Turning on Wi-Fi and other active functions will reduce runtime. The unit also features auto power-off and sleep modes to extend battery life in the field.
