The Aero Precision Enhanced Receiver Extension Buffer Tube for AR-15 & LR-308 Carbine is a purpose-built replacement for your standard buffer tube—one that actually solves real problems shooters face in the field and at the range. Where a basic tube just holds your buffer and spring, Aero's enhanced design adds internal geometry and drainage that pay dividends in reliability, longevity, and ease of use, especially if you're running a rifle hard or operating in less-than-ideal conditions.

The tube features Carrier Support Extensions molded into the interior, which guide your bolt-carrier group smoothly as it cycles back into the tube after each shot. This engineering prevents carrier tilt—a common source of accelerated wear on critical parts—and keeps your AR running longer between services. The support extensions also lock your buffer retaining pin firmly in place and resist the backward creep that can happen under heavy recoil, so you won't have to worry about the tube walking out during an intense shooting session.

Drainage is built in, too. Position Guide Drain Holes positioned along the tube let water escape quickly if you're hunting in wet conditions or shooting near water. In dry environments, those same holes vent air during the buffer compression cycle, which improves reliability across the board. The ramped tube design makes it simpler to install and remove standard carbine buttstocks, and Aero guarantees correct thread depth so your stock won't bind on exposed threads when you collapse it.

Made from aluminum and finished in black, this buffer tube fits AR-15 and LR-308 carbine platforms and is a straightforward upgrade if your current setup is showing signs of wear or if you simply want a more refined, thought-out component in your build.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this buffer tube fit my AR-15 and LR-308 carbine?

Yes, the Aero Precision Enhanced Receiver Extension Buffer Tube is designed to work with both AR-15 and LR-308 carbine platforms.

What makes this buffer tube better than a standard tube?

The enhanced design includes internal Carrier Support Extensions that guide your bolt-carrier group and reduce wear, drain holes that remove water and improve air evacuation for better reliability, and a lock-in system that prevents the buffer retaining pin and tube from backing out under recoil. The ramped design also makes buttstock installation easier.

Does this tube help if I shoot in wet conditions?

Yes. The Position Guide Drain Holes are specifically designed to quickly expel water from your rifle's operating system if you're hunting or shooting in wet environments, keeping your action cleaner and more reliable.
