AeroPrecision
The Aero Precision H2 Gold Buffer is a heavy-weight carbine buffer designed to tame recoil and smooth the cycling of AR15 rifles with collapsible stocks. Weighing 4.65 ounces, this mil-spec buffer fits standard mil-spec AR15 carbine receiver extensions and pairs well with shooters who want a softer shooting experience without sacrificing reliability. Whether you're building a new AR from the ground up or swapping in a heavier buffer to improve your existing setup, the H2 sits in the middle of Aero's buffer lineup—offering genuine recoil reduction without the risk of over-damping that can come from ultra-heavy configurations.
The H2 Gold Buffer is made in the USA to mil-spec standards, meaning it's built to the same dimensional and material specs as military-issue components. That consistency ensures drop-in compatibility with any carbine-length system running a standard receiver extension. The gold anodizing is more than cosmetic; it signals Aero's quality finish and makes the buffer easy to spot in your parts bin.
A heavier buffer works by slowing the bolt carrier group's rearward travel, which softens the impact on the receiver and reduces the felt recoil impulse—especially valuable on softer-shooting platforms or when running suppressed. Just remember that buffer weight is a tuning variable: too heavy, and your rifle may short-stroke or fail to lock back on an empty magazine. The H2 is a proven middle ground for most shooters, but always test function with your specific ammunition and barrel configuration.

The Aero Precision H2 Gold Buffer is designed for AR15 carbines equipped with a collapsible buttstock and a standard mil-spec receiver extension. It will not function in rifles with fixed stocks (A2 or A4 style). Check that your lower receiver has a carbine-length buffer tube before purchasing.
A heavier buffer slows the rearward movement of the bolt carrier group, which reduces the impact force and the speed at which the action cycles. This creates a softer, more manageable recoil impulse and can improve control, particularly on softer-shooting setups or with suppressed ammunition.
While heavier buffers do reduce recoil further, adding too much weight can prevent reliable function—your rifle may fail to cycle fully, lock back, or feed properly. The H2 is a proven middle-weight option; always test your specific rifle, barrel, and ammunition combination when changing buffer weight.
You receive the Aero Precision H2 Gold Buffer. Buffer tubes, springs, and castle nuts are sold separately.
