Ballistic Advantage
The Ballistic Advantage 6.5 Grendel 20-inch DMR barrel is built for precision rifle shooters who demand accuracy and reliability in a modern intermediate cartridge platform. Machined from 416R stainless steel and finished with a bead blast, this barrel handles the demanding ballistics of 6.5 Grendel ammunition while maintaining the durability needed for both range work and field hunting. The 1:8 twist rate stabilizes the wider projectile selection available in this cartridge, from lighter varmint loads to heavier match-grade rounds.
This is a Type 2 chambered barrel with rifle-length gas system, designed to work in AR-pattern builds. The .750-inch gas block journal and 5/8x24 threaded muzzle provide versatility—thread protectors, flash hiders, and suppressors all fit the standard mounting interface. The extended M4 feed ramp with nickel-boron coating ensures reliable feeding, a detail that separates quality components from economy parts when you're building or upgrading a precision platform.
The 20-inch DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle) profile strikes a practical balance: enough weight forward for recoil management and thermal stability, but not so heavy it transforms your rifle into a bench gun. Whether you're setting up a long-range hunter, a competition DMR, or a precision trainer, this barrel gives you the foundation to build something that shoots.

Yes. This barrel is designed for AR-pattern rifles with a standard rifle-length gas system. The Type 2 Grendel chamber and .750-inch gas block journal are standard interfaces in modern AR builds. You'll need appropriate handguards and components rated for 6.5 Grendel, but the barrel itself drops into any compatible upper receiver.
The 1:8 twist is the standard for 6.5 Grendel and will stabilize the typical range of bullets available for this cartridge. This flexibility is one reason the 1:8 twist is preferred over faster or slower rates for this chambering.
Yes. The barrel features a 5/8x24 threaded muzzle, the standard threading for 6.5 Grendel suppressors and muzzle devices. Thread protectors are included with many builds, and the interface is compatible with OPS Inc and other suppressor manufacturers using this standard thread pitch.
The extended M4 feed ramp with nickel-boron coating ensures smooth, reliable feeding under all conditions. Nickel-boron resists fouling and wear, which means consistent feeding throughout the life of the barrel—especially valuable if you're running a suppressor or shooting high-volume practice sessions.
